Cultural Gathering
Many Bangladeshi communities hold cultural events or gatherings, providing an opportunity to connect with fellow countrymen and celebrate festivals. As we mentioned earlier in introduction sections, most of them will seek for the gathering event among themself to getting more closer between themselves and the local environments.
Sometime, the event will be sponsored by the Embassy of Bangladesh itself especially for those working in the center of city or nearby. In some locations, the event was self sponsored by the small community or group of Bangla Expat in Malaysia
Dining Out
Apart from involing in cultural gathering event, usually during Sunday the Bangladeshi peoples in small group will go for dinner among themselves after 6 days working.
As mentioned earlier many of Bangladeshi peoples working in 3D sectors in Malaysia. Most of the time this sector required someone to work 12 hours in a day. Hence, most of the time these Bangladeshi workers will return home or hostel just to eat for life and sleep 3-5 hours in a day before they continue to come to work again.
Shopping
Shopping is the third things on our list for this article. But they prefer to go for shopping at the small shopping complex rather than the big or the mainstream shopping complex in Malaysia. Apart from that, they also prefer to go shopping for foods at “Pasar Malam” or night markets that usually will happen during Sunday night in Malaysia.
Recreation
Based on our obervation, we ever went to some recreation location in Sepang Selangor and found many of Bangladeshi workers spending their time in there as well. This is not the first time we found them at the recreation gardens, hence we conclude that many of them also prefer to spend time with family and friends for family bonding among them.
In Kuala Lumpur there are many free recreational location do Bangladeshi prefer to go during Sunday and we listed as below:
- Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC): The park surrounding the Petronas Towers is a favorite for picnics, jogging, and enjoying the view.
- Batu Caves: A popular cultural and historical site, it offers both a spiritual experience and a chance for outdoor exploration.
- Titiwangsa Lake Gardens: This park is great for relaxing, jogging, and enjoying recreational activities like cycling or boating.
- Putrajaya: Known for its beautiful architecture and lakes, it’s a great spot for sightseeing and leisurely walks.
- Community Sports Centers: Many Bangladeshis participate in sports activities, such as football or badminton, at local community centers or fields.
Sightseeing
For the Bangladeshi workers that new comers in Malaysia they might utilise the Sunday by exploring Kuala Lumpur’s attractions, like the Petronas Towers, Batu Caves, or local parks, is a great way to unwind. To get familiar into new country and environments, we as a local people of Malaysia also agreed by exploring the new surrounding can improve your productivity, soft skills and survival skills while staying in the new different environment and cultures.

Living in Malaysia for Bangladeshi peoples is easy going. There are many attraction places in Malaysia especialy in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor that they can visit during Sunday after works. On top of that, there are also many events in Malaysia usually will be happening during Sunday such as “Pasar Malam” or night markets, volunteering events and also entertainment events that happens during Sunday once in a month such as Food Festival and FunFair.
