There are many e-Bike brands can be found in Malaysia. The brands from China were among of the Malaysian Popular E-Bike. In Malaysia nowadays, the price of an e-bike now affordable for everyone.
In this article we will share information about the e-Bike industry and markets in Malaysia from our own perspective and our own observations after one year we bought an e-Bike on last year December 2023.
Introduction
The world now having an increase in temperature. The greenhouse effect tends to rise every year. Hence as per solutions, using an e-Bike or electric bicycle or scooter daily may help to reduce the greenhouse effect. In Malaysia recently in 2023 having an e-Bike once become trending. Apart from we can save more money rather than to purchase a petrol for a normal ICE scooter, using an e-Bike can become one of the solutions towards climate change problem globally where we are having an increase of temperature day by day.
Did you know that the fact Malaysia is the most warm and highest temperature among the countries in South East Asia? Hence let us prevent this event from getting worst and save the earth. Having an EV is a good move for us!
The Price e-Bike in Malaysia
Talking about the e-Bike price in Malaysia, it once become the exclusive product for the middle income class community in Malaysia. Recently in 2024 there are many e-Bike dealers brought the e-Bikes from China and Thailand and resell them in Malaysia. While the competitions become more competitive, the price of e-Bike in Malaysia significantly decreased.
As mentioned early, the price for average are now affordable for everyone. We can purchase a basic e-Bike for the lowest price below RM1,000 in Malaysia at the year 2024. For another segment of e-Bike, the price can be as higher more than RM5,000 or even more higher depending the specifications.
Basic Segment e-Bike
For the Basic segment E-Bike, we can get them within price range RM600 – RM1500 for one unit in Malaysia. The basic unit E-Bike can reach maximum speed of 30-45 Kilometer per hour. LEM e-Bike is one among popular and cheap e-Bike in Malaysia. Malaysia also have produce their own e-Bike but not as popular as China and Thailand brands.

Medium Segment e-Bike
In this segment e-Bike, the design and the battery were the matters for many Malaysians. For average medium segment e-Bike the speed can reach up to 50-60 Kilometers per hour. Hence this segment e-Bike might practical for daily use and daily ride within small area or within residential areas such as to fetch their children from school near their house, go to the mosque for prayer and to the garden for recreation with family and friends.
The price might a little bit higher than the previous one we mentioned above. Due to it speeds, battery life cycle and the design, the price range approximately between RM1500 – RM3500. LEM is the most popular and reliable for this basic and medium segment e-Bike. LEM is product from China.
Advance Segment e-Bike
In this segment e-Bike, the speed and the durability of the engine were the matters for those who purchase them. In this segments, mostly e-Bike in this segments are modified from the previous segments we mentioned previously.
Some of them also modified in Thailand or other countries before they brought the modified e-Bike in a bulk before they meet with the customers in Malaysia. The famous brand for this segment is The Lion EV that can achieve the speed of 90-100 Kilometers per hour!
Another second brand for this segment is Falcon EV also product from Thailand. Lastly, Yadea is also one of the popular brand for this segment e-Bike. The speed, the design, and durability all together within package. This Yadea e-Bike most liked by the one who want to use for long distance during long period of time.

Conclusions
Having an e-Bike in Malaysia nowadays no longer only for an elite peoples. In fact, almost all the peoples in Malaysia now are afford to purchase an e-Bike regardless of their brand and their specifications. Moreover, there are also a champaign run by the government and non government organization pertaining the importance of utilizing a renewable energy appliances including electric vehicles to reduce cardon and reduce the greenhouse effect.
In general, there are only two or three e-Bike brands that popular and widely use in Malaysia. There are LEM, Lion, Falcon and Yadea. These four e-Bike brands among the best and the most reliable to purchase in Malaysia. Although Malaysia also produce their own brand e-Bike, they are still a lot to improve in order to compete with all four brands we mentioned before.
Based on our experience, Malaysian made e-Bike lack of power and still need to improve on the lifespan of the batteries that they provided. Hopefully one day they can compete with other brands and make Malaysian proud.
